Pablo Rebollo Pérez

The small-scale works that Pablo Rebollo created for Galería Capa are from his artistic youth era, his first decade as a sculptor. They are part of a series of works that share stylistic and technical similarities with which the artist learned to capitalise on the ductility of bronze and its most fascinating characteristics, and exploit them to display defined and schematically presented concepts, such as in El Mirón [The Observer]. In other pieces, such as Efebo [Ephebos] or Mujer [Woman], he also uses welding to put the finishing touches to the aesthetic message through added pieces, extras, in the shape of feminine or masculine attributes. "Bronze allows you to convey all the characteristics of clay and its finish", he explains. "This makes the piece sometimes gain and regain", he adds. The result, an artist outcome with primitive reflections, akin to African carvings or dormant memories from the classic Greco-Roman culture in pieces with strong experimental dies, accomplished expressiveness and a clear nod to schematism. With solid training in the workshop and foundry, Rebollo points out that it has been some time since he abandoned this artistic tendency in order to further explore other creative processes.
