  • ABOUT THE ARTIST

Like 3D illustrations, the sculptures by Fanny Galera breathe, live and appear to feel in a poetic and highly visual universe of dreaminess. Yet laden with reflection, personal experiences and universal feelings that are transparent through the plasticity of movement, in subtle stances created with bronze. This is demonstrated in pieces like Sonidos del Tiempo [Sounds of Time] or the series Vigía de Luna [Moon Lookout], where the figures seem to adopt humanised capabilities in a space completely disconnected from reality, where they appear to be wandering, like vagrants, or perhaps characters from a surrealist text.

Meticulousness, purity, delicacy and clean shapes are some of the most striking qualities that distinguish her small-scale works at this stage in her career. However, there is another personal characteristic of her work that experts agree upon, which is the fact that her designs always include easily recognisable everyday objects that enable the public to better approach and grasp the message.

To externalise what her mind conjures up requires all types of materials: stone, ceramic, porcelain, wood, glass, resin... and her technical expertise allows her to create pieces that express either lightness or an intense feeling of heaviness, depending on what she wishes to convey. Existence, the individual and his or her environment are her main concerns, her most represented discourse, integrating the observer in her message at all times.
