Graduated in Fine Art from the University of the Basque Country (1985). PhD from the University of Valladolid. Lecturer in Volume at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas de Oviedo [School of Visual Arts of Oviedo] (Asturias)

First prize in sculpture competition of the Design Awards for his work entitled Motiva, Galería Caracol. Valladolid (1998).
  • ABOUT THE ARTIST

Bronze is one of the tools he uses to aesthetically transform the reality of his environment, adapting it to his own imagination; although, he also uses other materials in his designs such as porcelain or paper. As the artist himself said on more than one occasion, his creativity yields works that breathe "nature, art and life" and some of his pieces provoke a specific interpretation of the mark left behind on the surface of the elements due to the passing of time. The creative process, the appearance of objects and their underlying meanings are also reflections that have inspired him throughout his career to artistically research and experiment with shape and mould it in countless ways. In the collection Derivaciones, comprising pieces created towards the end of the 90s, this ongoing concern and pursuit is perceptible, within an abstract scope, by playing with volumes, angles and variations of composition. At times more serene, and at others more intense, his creativity highlights his capability of mastering the technique when formulating thoughts and feelings and transforming them into art that stimulates reflection.
